🇫🇷 Maxence Caqueret continues to be of great utility to Lyon

Maxence Caqueret continues to be of great utility to Lyon.

Although the club have had quite a tumultuous season, Caqueret’s versatility and all-round quality have helped them maintain some stability in midfield. He can play all three major positions in midfield, so a box-to-box role has seemed to suit him best.

Indeed, the 24-year-old Frenchman has consistently delivered in all departments in recent seasons. His attacking output has been just above average for Ligue 1 midfielders over the last three seasons, while his defensive work has been decent too. He is also very tough to shake off the ball as he uses his body very well to shield it, and can also offer great progressive passing both from deep as well as into the final third.

Caqueret has been at Lyon for about 13 years now having joined their prestigious youth academy in 2011, but he has been periodically linked with a move away to various European clubs every summer over the last few years. With a contract till 2027 and a value of €20 million according to Transfermarkt, he is sure to earn his side a handy transfer fee if he does finally move on this summer.
