Agustín Giay is a young player to watch in Argentina.

The youngster has established himself as a regular fixture on the right of San Lorenzo’s line-ups for a couple of seasons now, patrolling the flank as a wing back. He can also play as a full back or even start higher up as a winger, so a spot in Rubén Darío Insúa’s favored 3-4-2-1 formation gives him the chance to showcase his attacking and defensive qualities at the same time.

The young Argentine is polished on the ball, offering good retention as well as passing quality be it to progress the ball towards goal or link-up with his teammates and get forward himself. He is also strong enough in duels, both on and off the ball and on the ground or in the air.

The 20-year-old wing-back recently signed a contract extension until 2026, but given the trajectory of his development, he is unlikely to stay in Boedo that long. Some of Europe’s biggest clubs are said to be closely watching him, so he could well be off in the next couple of windows.
